We are pleased to announce that Takanawa global co-benefits Fund (managed by Global Brain Corporation) has invested in aba Inc. (hereinafter referred to as aba).

aba is a startup with the vision of "using technology to create a society where everyone wants to provide care," and aims to improve productivity and the quality of care in nursing care settings through the development and provision of the HelpPad, a bed-mounted excretion detection sensor. Since its founding in 2011, the company has worked on developing both hardware and software from scratch, and in 2019 released the first model in collaboration with another company. In 2023, the company announced a second-generation original model with significantly improved functionality. The company continues to grow steadily while steadily expanding its sales channels.

In Japan, the number of people requiring care continues to increase due to the declining birthrate and aging population. However, the gap between supply and demand for caregivers continues to widen due to the serious shortage of caregivers. Furthermore, within the field of caregiving, "excretion care" is an area that directly impacts the dignity and sense of shame of the elderly, and places a significant physical and psychological burden on caregivers. The HelpPad developed by aba uses sensors to detect the odor of urine and feces and notify caregivers when it's time for a diaper change. This frees caregivers from having to deal with unnecessary diaper changes and excrement leaks, leading to care that respects the self-esteem and sense of shame of the elderly. Furthermore, aba has earned the trust of caregivers in the field through its meticulous support provided since the product's introduction.

Takanawa Earth Interest Fund has decided to invest in aba, which is working to solve the social issue of labor shortages in the nursing global co-benefits field and contribute to improving the quality of life of those in need of care, thereby using technology to create a society in which everyone wants to provide care. This strongly resonates with us.
