Implementing a manufacturing education program for Tokyo Metropolitan Technical High School students using the Kukan Jizai Workplace
Registration closed

[Two-way sharing of ideas between LiSH (Tokyo)and Tsubame-Sanjo]
JR East and Dots and Lines Co., Ltd. conducted an experiential educational program for students of Tokyo Metropolitan Technical High School, touring a manufacturing factory in Tsubame-Sanjo. Participants learned about the manufacturing process for titanium chairs made from recycled materials at a local factory and even tried their hand at making one.
The highlight of the program was the online presentation held on the third day, utilizing the Kukan Jizai Workplace. Connecting the TAKANAWA GATEWAY Link Scholars' Hub (LiSH) with the Tsubame-Sanjo base, students presented project proposals based on their learning and production experiences on-site. Through high-definition video and immersive two-way communication, they were able to share with each other the attention to detail and techniques unique to craftsmanship.
The presented proposals are expected to lead to applications for the "Monozukuri Award," which challenges participants to develop products that combine local technology with free thinking. The Kukan Jizai Workplace has created a new educational experience that combines the realism of being on-site with the depth of learning, even online.
